Quarles family genealogical notes, 1723-1939.

Includes descendants of the Quarles family, primarily focusing on the branch of the family of Nanthaniel Quarles (d. 1767), of Manchester (Chesterfield County, which was annexed to the city of Richmond, Virginia, in 1910) and King William County, Virginia; however, there is some material relating to another Nathaniel Quarles (d. ca. 1783), also of the area of Chesterfield Countyd (now South Richmond) and Prince William County, Virginia. The latter Nathaniel Quarles (d. ca. 1783) was the son of John and Susannah Quarles, and he fought in the Revolutionary War, dying shortly after the war was over. Contains typed transcripts of wills (some with slave records), deeds and other court records, letters, genealogical notes and an inventory of the Quarles family; also included are typed transcripts and ms. extracts of deeds on Nathaniel Quarles's (d. 1816) eldest daughter Elizabeth Tunstall (Quarles) Hewlett (fl. 1808) and her husband Richard Hewlett (fl. 1808). The abstracts of deeds were filed in Augusta, Chesterfield, Culpeper and Fauquier Counties, Virginia and the abstracts and copies of wills were filed in Chesterfield, Fauquier and King William Counties, Virginia.
